Home Organizing for Tranquility
I wanted to be organized at an early age because every time my family would leave the house, we children had to spend fifteen minutes searching for my motherís wallet, keys, and sunglasses! Having been an Army Brat and Army wife, I have decades of experience moving in and out with all the organizing skills entailed. Though one of my family members has many talents, organizing is not one of them! In my own defense, I have learned ways to accommodate the needs of a chronically disorganized person and have a tidy, attractive home at the same time. I had carried out many organizing projects for family and friends for years before founding Restful Nests because I love to help, and I love organizing!
I earned a BSW at the University of Alaska and worked in social services during the nine years I lived there. In the mid 1980ís, my husband, three children, two cats and I moved to a large Liberty, Maine farmhouse with attached shed and barn. I took courses at the University of Maine for my teaching certificate and taught elementary school and middle school Spanish for twenty-three years in Belfast. I love Maine and thought I was settling my last home in Liberty, but when we retired and the children were grown and out the door, we moved to a tiny house in the woods of Knox. Talk about downsizing!
I became a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers, where I have polished my skills by reading in the field, taking Napo organizing courses, and earning the status of Professional Napo Organizer. My passions also include keeping up with my family, writing poems, and walking the dog.
